Agenda: Talk about students currently failing, intervention plans, DCA administration

• Students struggling with ERQ on the District Common Assessment due to confusing wording and unclear instructions

Gave practice problem to students to prepare for the type of questions the students will see on the DCA.   These types of questions are similar to that of the ACT.

Roberts is utilizing google classroom to analyze formative assessment immediately.

Roberts is providing immediate feedback to students based on the results of the formative assessment.

Dry Ice lab went well. No one got hurt. 

One group was not allowed to participate due to not following safety procedures.

Review on the days we return from Election Day and Test on Friday.

• Ending Earth Science unit next week and giving district assessment. 
• District assessment requires a lot of graph and diagram analysis so students need extra practice with that
• Roberts in lab next week for dry ice lab
• Roberts/Rahmlow convection current lab
• Students need extra help with plate boundaries

Alternate plan for 6th Period due to rewards day on Thursday during their class

- Law of conservation of energy (20.3%)

- Conversion of kinetic energy to gravitational potential (26.6%)

- Definition of energy (34.2%)

Rube Goldberg went well for most students.  Students struggled but most did not give up.  Giving full grades for the builds as long as students did not give up (regardless of the ultimate success of their machine).  Remainder of grade is dependent on student write-up of their Rube Goldberg machine and a reflection on the importance of failure in science.

Rahmlow: 8 students failing currently
Roberts: 21 students failing currently

Reviewed energy unit test to ensure we are continuing planning toward that goal.
