Students will have graphic organizer with standards listed; students will organize events and other things seen in the movie by standards learned in class

Final exam will take place over 2 days (with block) or 3 days (without block).  Will feature multiple choice questions from tests taken throughout the year, as well as 3 ERQs which are generalized and broad in nature.  Test topics will be cumulative knowledge and will be worth a significant grade.  Review for the test will also be graded.

Meeting Minutes 12/04

AGENDA
Final Exam - format, writing
Egg Drop logistics
Egg Drop paper re-write from last year
End of year planning

Final exam will be done on Google Classroom form/quiz so it self-grades and students get instant feedback.  Questions will be taken from previous tests, quizzes and exams as well as newer content from most recent unit.  The final will be open notes and open internet.

Egg drop is scheduled for December 12 and 13.  We need access to the roof and one teacher needs to be on the ground level while the other is on the roof.

Egg drop paper will be rewritten by next Wednesday so students know what they will be writing when the egg drop is complete.

This week we will have students learning about forces and motion, with additional time on Monday for review.  Tuesday students will take a diagnostic quiz over the material to see what they're still struggling with.  The egg drop will occur Wed/Thurs.  Students will write reflection papers on Friday.  Review will occur on Monday/Tuesday, Exams on Wednesday/Thursday, and makeup on Friday.

Meeting Minutes 11/19

AGENDA
Ending Earth Science
Recovery for students currently failing
Planning ahead for forces and motion

Earth science results -- students did well overall on the DCA compared to the district average.  Students struggled on #4 due to problematic wording and diagram.  Students who scored lower than proficient on the DCA were given the chance to take a different test over Earth Science to boost their grade.  This second test was an exact duplicate of the pretest we gave at the beginning of the unit, allowing us to determine growth.

Some students failing the class have been put into an intervention class.  These students will be brought up to a 59.5% D- pending a successful completion of the the intervention.  Students will also have several major grades upcoming to help boost their grades further.  Many of the students currently failing are missing a lot of school and classtime, hindering their opportunity for success.

Forces and motion will begin in force next week, and students are already starting on velocity problems.  Students are struggling significantly even with simple multiplication and division, indicating that this will be a difficult unit for them to get through.  The egg drop and other activities will help break up the math-centric unit.
